Obituary

Michael W Geisert, 67, passed away peacefully on September 29 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly with his family by his side. Michael was born across the country in Tacoma, Washington, but made his impact early in life as a Bordentown local. He was elected as student council president in high school and was inducted into the Bordentown Hall of Fame for his baseball achievements. He carried on that passion for sports- as a pained lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, he sought achievement in teaching and mentoring aspiring athletes and recreational players alike. He took pride in being known as ‘Coach Mike’ to many during numerous seasons of B.A.B.L, Little League, Bordentown Bandits, Bordentown recreational soccer and in Lawrenceville High School as a football coach.

Michael’s life was one of service to those around him: in his personal life as a member of St. Mary’s church- teaching many years of CCD and as an active member of Knights of Columbus and Bordentown Elks lodge. He was a Scout Master of local Boy Scout Troop #13, helping to facilitate many community projects and camping trips. Professionally, his counseling journey started in Johnstone- helping those with developmental disabilities, delinquent juveniles in JJC Bootcamp and counseling those with addictions at Oaks Integrated Care. Michael dedicated 10 years of his life to the ARMY, and then later returned to those roots in his counseling those with PTSD at Vets for Warriors at Rutgers. Even during what should have been his golden years of retirement he was dedicated to others by counseling virtually to those who needed it most through platforms like Headway and Better Help. Though his accolades were many, the most impactful were father, brother, uncle, husband, mentor, and friend.

Predeceased by his brother and sister: Andy Geisert and JoAnn Hartin and his nephew, CJ Hartin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara Lepping-Geisert. His daughter and son-in-law, Lauren Geisert and Trevor of Woodbury, NJ. His son, Michael A Geisert and granddaughter, Madison Bailey as well as his brother Fritz Geisert who reside in FL. Nieces: Christa Hartin, her husband Jay, their children, Roger and Anastasia as well as Caroline Bulleck and great niece Lilliana.

Inurnment with military honors will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery in Wrightstown. A Celebration of Life for Michael will be scheduled for a later date, which will be open to everyone in the community whom Michael has made an impact on; not only by his passing, but his life as well. Funeral arrangements for immediate family are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
