Melkon ""Mel"" Boyajian, 84, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28th at Rose Hill Assisted Living in Robbinsville. Mel, born in New York, NY, was a longtime resident of both Brooklyn, NY and Toms River, NJ and had just recently moved to Robbinsville. A WWII Army Veteran, Mel was a principal of The Boyer Company in New York, later working in other ventures. Before retiring, he drove a cab in New York City often sharing many stories of the ""Big Apple"" and his many interesting passengers. Mel was dedicated to his family and enjoyed taking his family on many adventurous road trips. He was especially loved by his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
Son of the late Setrek and Rose Boyajian, and predeceased by his brother Jack, he is survived by his wife of 60 years Antoinette Boyajian (Bonfiglio); three children and their spouses, son Stephen and Marian Boyajian of Selkirk, NY, daughter Joan and Pete Peterik of Robbinsville, and son Donald and Veronica Boyajian of Deerfield, IL; six grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Bob Scott, Phillip and his wife Katie Boyajian, Brian and his sister Amy Peterik and Andrew and his sister Marisa Boyajian as well as Mel's two sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Nishan Apelian and Mary and Harry Avedesian.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1St from 10AM -12PM followed immediately by the funeral service at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Stratton VA Hospice Fund, Stratton Medical Center, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
