Maureen A. Hoffman, 83, of New Egypt, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at her home, where her family was able to spend her last days with her. Maureen was born and raised in Jersey City, where she met and married the love of her life, William A. Hoffman. She lived and worked in Jersey City for 60 years, prior to moving to New Egypt. Her joy in life was caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.
Maureen worked for Safeway and Catrone Realty. She retired from Jersey City State College Bursar's Office. During her employment as a state worker, Maureen took great pride in her efforts as a union organizer, shop steward and local CWA Vice President.
Maureen is predeceased by her beloved husband, William A. Hoffman, who passed away in 1996 after 46 years of marriage; her beloved mother, Mary Kelly, who died when Maureen was only 12 years old; her father, Harry Kelly and her two siblings, Thomas "Joe" Kelly, who she looked to as both a brother and father and her brother, Harry Kelly.
Maureen is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Donna and Jesse Thatcher of New Egypt and Ann and Richard Tullo of Wayne; and her loving grandchildren, Leigh Ann Johnson and Richard M. Tullo. Maureen was looking forward to sharing in the birth of her first great grandchild in October with Leigh Ann and her husband Gregory J. Johnson.
Visitation will be held at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 S. Main St., Allentown NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 1st from 5-8pm and again on Thursday, July 2nd from 11am until 12pm. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
