Obituary

Mary Peppler Van Hise, 87, of Freehold, passed away Wednesday, September 30th at Applewood Estates. Born in Upper Freehold, she lived in Allentown for 39 years. In 1987 she married her husband, Leonard Van Hise and they moved to Rossmoor in Monroe Twp. and later to Applewood in Freehold. Mary was a graduate of Allentown High School and Mercer School of Nursing. She received her School Nursing Certificate from Trenton State College and went on to work as a Registered Nurse for Allentown High School and Upper Freehold Regional Elementary School for 32 years. Mary was very active in the community, serving as the former Treasurer for the Allentown Branch of the Salvation Army; a charter member of the Allentown Historical Society; former member of the Mercer Hospital Alumni Association and lifetime member of the N.J.E.A and the N.E.A. She was also a former member of the Allentown Presbyterian Church where she served as a Trustee and Librarian and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown.

Daughter of the late Mabel and J. Wilbur Peppler, wife of the late Leonard L. Van Hise, and sister-in-law of the late Jean O. Peppler; she is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, Shirley and Warren Olsen of Hightstown, two step-sons and their wives, Richard and Fern Van Hise of Hightstown and David and Dana Van Hise of Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, Donald W. Peppler of Interlaken; a nephew and his wife Donald and Ginny Peppler of Neptune; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30am on Saturday, October 3rd at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. The Rev. Bryan Franzen will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, 320 N. Main St. Hightstown, NJ 08520.
