Mary J. Snyder, 86, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at her home. Born in Millstone Township, she was a longtime Allentown area resident. Mrs. Snyder work as a riveter during WWII and retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years of service. She was faithful member of St. John's Church for 60 years and served as past president of the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Snyder was an avid gardener and liked the outdoors. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City but most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.
Daughter of the late Daniel and Julia (Chyza) Hamay, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Snyder, her son, Daniel C. Snyder and two sisters, Anna Briggs and Sr. Olga Hamay, DC. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Rick and Carolyn Snyder of Barnegat, Mark and Angela Snyder of Yardville, Mary Jo and Steve Danitz of Robbinsville, Timothy J. Snyder of Trenton and Donna and Daniel Shelton of Jacksonville, Fl; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Snyder of Denver, PA; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, many nieces and special friends, Janet and Anthony Volpe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Thursday, March 24 th at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Jersey Right to Life, 242 Old New Brunswick Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
