Marjorie E. Beakes , 101, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her residence in San Antonio, TX.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, she had resided in Bordentown Township prior to moving to Texas in 1980. Marjorie was a retired Lt. Col. in the US Air Force. She served as a nurse during WWII and was involved in the D-day invasion in Normandy. She later was part of the medical team for NASA Mercury 6, which included Astronaut John Glenn.

Marjorie is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, January 26 from 11 to 12 with funeral services beginning 12 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Rd., San Antonio, TX 78216
