Obituary

Marion A. Tallon, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on June 23rd with her children and grandchildren by her side. Marion was a lifelong resident of New Jersey, born in Trenton, and later moving to Mansfield Township, Burlington County, with her husband of 52 years, Robert O. "Pat" Tallon, Sr., and two children, Robert O. "Bob" Tallon, Jr. and Terri Ann Tallon. She graduated from Trenton Central High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Otterbein College, a Master of Arts from The College of New Jersey, and a Doctorate of Education from Temple University.  She was a member of the American Psychological Association and the New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Association. She also served as President of the New Jersey State Federation Council for Exceptional Children. During her career as a learning consultant, she taught psychology and special education at the College of New Jersey, Mercer County College, Thomas Edison State University, and Holy Family University.

Marion served on the Mansfield Township Board of Education for 14 years. She also served on the Mansfield Township Planning Board, Planning and Development Committee, Master Plan Committee, Special Events Committee, Concerned Citizens of Mansfield Township Committee, and as a member of the Mansfield Township Historical Society.

A member of the Columbus Grange #58, she also functioned for 20 years as a 4-H photography club leader and was awarded the "Friend of 4-H" honor by the New Jersey Association of 4-H Agents. Other recognitions include "Outstanding Special Educator – Council for Exceptional Children; "Outstanding Woman" – Burlington County Women Publication; 1 st place in the Willingboro Public Library Photography Contest.

Marion is survived by her children Bob and Terri: 5 grandchildren, Dana Hammill, Sean Kathryn O'Connor, Kate (John) O'Callaghan, Joshua (Jessica) Hammill, Phillip Tallon (Aileen Fleming), and 6 great grandchildren: Regan Hancock, Ryan Hancock, Ellie Hammill, Logan O'Callaghan, Madison Hammill, Isaac O'Callaghan.

Marion's pre-planned cremation is being handled by Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown, NJ. A celebration-of-life for family and friends will be held on July 18, 2018, at the Inn at Fernbrook Farms, 144 Bordentown-Georgetown Road (CR 545), Chesterfield, NJ, from 6 - 9 p.m.

Marion served for many years as secretary for the Crafts Creek Spring Hill Brook Watershed Association, an organization dedicated to the health of our watersheds and environment. She completed training through Rutgers University to become an Environmental Steward. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crafts Creek Spring Hill Brook Watershed Association, 2454 Axe Factory Road, Bordentown, NJ, 08505.
