December 22, 1925 – June 4, 2022
Marion Mattern, 96, formerly of Lakewood, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Clare Estates in Bordentown. Born in Lakewood, she resided there for most of her life, before moving to Cream Ridge to live with her son James, and later to Clare Estates. Marion worked for Lakewood Twp. Board of Education as a Secretary to the Principal at the Spruce Street School and was a longtime member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Lakewood.
Daughter of the late Marion Clayton, Marion was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Thomas Sr., Fred Steenburgh, and Wade Mattern. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Doris Stotler and Wanda Wilson. Marion is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Thomas and James and Joan Thomas; grandchildren, Robert Thomas III, Kimberly Thomas, James C. Thomas and his wife Amanda, Joshua Thomas, and Marion "Lizzy" Mahon and her husband, Zachary; great grandchildren, James and Meri Thomas; her nieces and nephews, Gayle and Harry Nann, Kenneth Stotler, and Greg and Marge Wilson; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family would like to thank Dawn and all of the staff at Clare Estate for the great care they provided to Marion.
A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 9 th from 1-4pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown.
