Marion L. Kanter, 85, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Coalville, PA, she was a resident of Columbus for almost 50 years. Marion and her husband Alexander were the owners and operators of Kanter's Department Store in Bordentown. After retiring from the store, Marion helped her husband with his real estate career. The Kanter's also owned a farm in Columbus, where they raised Angus and Hereford cattle as well as Thoroughbred horses. Marion was an avid antique collector and enjoyed going to the racetrack with her husband to ""Yell in the horses"", but most of all Marion loved her family which was the most important thing to her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Wife of the late Alexander Kanter , she was predeceased by her parents, Beulah and Lyndon Colby and her sister, Ethlyn Anderson; Marion is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Francine Cutler of Columbus and Turba and Barry Steinberg of Medford; a sister, Fay Dubell of Roebling; three grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Burro, Joshua and Heather Steinberg and Mia Steinberg and her husband Ryan Dale; two great grandsons, Ethan Steinberg and Alexander Burro; many nieces and nephews as well as her loving dog companions, Ricky, Freddy and her precious Luci Belle.
A private family Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 112 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, followed by an interment at Bordentown Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, Lockbox #1352, P.O. Box 8500, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352.
