Marion J. Armstrong, 77, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mt. Holly. Born in Mt. Holly, she grew up in Hedding and resided in Columbus for most of her life. A 1955 graduate of William McFarland High School, Marion worked in the Board of Education for both the Northern Burlington and Lumberton School Districts. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time working on the family farm. Marion was a lifetime member of the Columbus Baptist Church, an active attendee of the Chesterfield Baptist Church and a dedicated member of the Columbus Grange. She enjoyed gardening and bowling and was a talented seamstress and an excellent baker.
Daughter of the late Charles and Emmaline Pigott, she was predeceased in February by her husband of 57 years, Roger E. Armstrong and her brother, William H. Pigott. Marion is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn Armstrong and Neil and Helene Armstrong; her sisters, Cora "Betty" Wainwright, Patricia and Donald Shinn and Reba Ostner and her companion, Don Motta; her grandchildren, Dylan, Delainey, McKenzie and Emmaline; her great granddaughter, Cordelia as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11am, Thursday, August 13th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will follow in Columbus Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Grange, 102 Atlantic Ave., Columbus, NJ 08022 or to the Chesterfield Baptist Church, 209 Matthews Lane, Chesterfield, NJ 08515.
