The daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Small, Marilyn was born in Orange, NJ, and raised in West Orange, NJ. She graduated from Our Lady of the Valley School and attended the College of Saint Elizabeth. She worked as a teacher and insurance claims processor.
Her greatest joys were her family and her faith. She married the love of her life, Fred, on June 26, 1954, was the loving mother to eight children, grandmother to eleven and great-grandmother to 5. A committed Catholic, Marilyn was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Orange and at St. Aloysius Church in Jackson Twp. She was also a member of the consolation ministry and faith sharing groups at St. Aloysius. Throughout her life, Marilyn was an active member of the community. When her children were young, she wrote and directed Christmas plays for the schools to perform. Marilyn and Fred enjoyed organizing trips for their Jackson community and parish. They were founding members of the Breakfast Club from St. Aloysius.
Marilyn was a resident of Homestead at Hamilton for the last 7 years. She enjoyed her activities and friendships there, bringing her smile to all every day. She founded the weekly Rosary with Marilyn group for members of that community. The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead and the Serenity Hospice team for the wonderful care they provided.
