Obituary

Marilyn L. Adams , 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024 at her home with her family by her side.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was raised in Fairview, NJ and was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1950. Marilyn was a 71-year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hainesport, NJ, where earlier in life she taught Sunday School for many years.

Her career started in Camden, NJ at Campbell Soup Company as a telephone operator. In 1953 she left to join her husband in Columbus, NJ, where they built their life. After raising two daughters, she returned to work for Columbus Elementary School, first in the lunchroom and later as a school bus driver, retiring after 25 wonderful years.

Marilyn made many lifelong friends as an active member in several clubs and groups. She was a member of the ladies group "The Night Outers" for over 60 years. Upon retiring, she joined the Mansfield Township Senior Citizen group and enjoyed their fellowship over the years. She traveled the country with her husband Irvin, frequently visiting family and friends. She belonged to several camping clubs, with the "1492'ers" being a favorite. Florida was a winter destination for more than 20 years.

Predeceased by her parents: Robert and Mary Cooper, her siblings: Robert E. Cooper Jr., Mary Jane Redmond, and sister-in-law Helen Adams. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Irvin Adams, her daughters and sons-in-law: Marybeth and Jerry Oliver of Richmond, VA, and Cynthia and Don Tootell of Columbus, NJ, Grandchildren: Matthew Tootell and fiancee Sabrina Meek, Julianne Tootell and husband Stefan Nikolic, Lauren Oliver and husband Ryan James, Ryan Oliver and wife Nancy Riggleman, and her great grandchildren: Cooper and Caroline James, as well as nephews Rodger Cooper, Jack Redmond, and Bob Redmond.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 910 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ 08036.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial service will begin at 11am.

Interment will follow the services at Columbus Cemetery, 24 Cherry Lane, Columbus, NJ 08022.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Marilyn's memory may be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
