IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret
Truhan
June 1, 1936 – May 16, 2023
Born on June 1, 1936, Margaret Huettenreiter Truhan died peacefully at her son's home on Tuesday May 16, 2023, with her faithful companion, Bolt, by her side.
Daughter of the late Louise and Oscar Huettenreiter and wife of the late Nicholas Truhan, she is survived by her son Nicholas George Truhan and his partner Joseph Manger.
Margaret graduated from Allentown High School which is where she returned to teach English four years later after graduating from Gettysburg College where she was a Sigma Kappa Sorority member. Margaret met her future husband her second year of teaching at AHS and though not love at first sight, the two single teachers were married 11 months later at St. John's RC Church in Allentown with many of their students in attendance. They were the second couple to be married in the new church. There she became a trustee for 35 years and was a member until her death.
Her greatest contribution during her lifetime was her relentless ability to put others first. For that, and for her many acts of kindness, her many friends, family, and especially her only son, are forever grateful. "What matters most in life are other people" was her motto in life and she certainly exemplified that spirit.
Margaret was a truly gifted individual. Very creative and thoughtful. Her handiwork and her creative passions brought lots of joy and beauty to those who were fortunate to see and enjoy them. Sewing, reading, gardening, cooking, baking, NYC, Bridge Club, collecting black depression glass, stained glass creation and her strong Catholic faith were a few of her many hobbies and passions.
In lieu of a donation please do something kind for someone who might need your love and support today or any other.
Burial will be private. Margaret will be buried next to her husband of 59 years in St. John's Cemetery in Allentown, NJ.
Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
