Margaret H. Perritt, 89, of Allentown, passed away after a brief illness Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough. Born in Newark, NJ, she was a 1949 graduate of Kearny High School. In 1955, Margaret married Alexander M. Perritt at Trinity Episcopal Church in Kearny. The couple spent several years in Syracuse until Alexander received his doctorate. They moved to Hightstown, NJ in 1961 where they lived for many years and raised their family. In 1973, Margaret helped found Perritt Laboratories.
Margaret was a founding member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Cranbury, NJ. She was a past president and honorary member of the Friday Club of Hightstown, past president of the Peddie Ladies Golf Association, past president of the Rocky Brook Garden Club, member of the Hightstown Lioness Club, and a member of the Hightstown Housing Authority.
Daughter of the late John and Margaret Hodgson, she is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Alexander Perritt; her four children and their spouses, Linda P. and Richard Ward, Susan P. and Richard Jakober, Alison P. and Christopher Evans, and Scott and Lissa Perritt and her 12 grandchildren, Christopher Ward, Andrew Ward, Brian Ward, Erich Jakober and his wife Gina, Alexander Jakober and his wife Melissa, Kirstin Jakober, Andrew Evans, Douglas Evans, Caroline Evans, Ashley Perritt Kourgalis and her husband Jonathan, Jamie Perritt, and Bryce Perritt as well as three great grandchildren, Nathan, Christian, and Ian Jakober.
Margaret enjoyed golf, gardening, travelling, reading, and spending time in Vermont. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 19 th at 11:00 AM at St. David's Episcopal Church, 90 S Main St, Cranbury, NJ 08512. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
