Margaret Rae ""Peggy"" Kalm, nee O'Connell, 69, of Allentown, NJ, went home to Jesus on April 30, 2013. She passed from this life on her own terms, at her house, in peace, surrounded by her children. She was predeceased in death by her husband, the absolute love of her life, Arthur ""Sam"" Kalm, and two babies, Luke and Seth Kalm. She is survived by five children, her children-in-law, and 14 grandchildren, each and every one of whom infinitely adored her: Daniel and Amy Kalm of Tuscon, AZ, and their three children, Suzanne, Jonathan and Margaret ""Meg""; David and Kimberly Kalm of Upper Freehold and their two children, Kaitlin and Jane; Amy and Robert Klopman of St. John's, FL and their five children, Zachary, Andrew, Grace, Tommy and Teddy; Joshua and Lisa Kalm of Chesterfield, NJ and their two children, Samuel and Joshua; and Jeremiah and Christina Kalm of Columbus, NJ and their two children, Madelyn and MacKenzie.
Born and raised in Racine, WI, Peggy met Sam while Sam was still in college. They eloped several weeks later. Following Sam's career path, they eventually settled down in Allentown, NJ in 1974, to raise their growing family. Peggy became a paralegal and legal secretary, worked at the New Jersey Division of Law for many years, and eventually became an office administrator within the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General, from which she retired in 2011. But the true essence of Peggy was her Christian faith, her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She always maintained her wry, Irish sense of humor through every trial she and Sam faced. She woke early every day to read her Bible and pray. She cooked giant dinners every Sunday for years for the entire family, which grew it seemed for a while at least almost daily as her five children married and had their own children. All of this while working full-time, caring for Sam when in his last years he also became ill, and fighting her own battle against breast cancer. She never thought of herself first. Of Peggy it can truly be said that she fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she kept the faith. In keeping with Peggy's wishes, a private viewing will be held for her family, followed by a private internment.
A memorial service for everyone who knew and loved Peggy will be held on Friday, May 3rd, at 3 pm at the Allentown Baptist Church 72 Waker Ave. - Rte 526, Allentown. A donation, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the National Right to Life Committee, Attn: Development, 512 10th St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20004 or to a charity of your choosing. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
