Obituary

Margaret (Peggy)C. Haas , 90, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Florence, NJ surrounded by her family. Born in Trenton she was a resident of the Bordentown area most of her life. Peggy was employed by Acme Markets for 35 years, was a member of the Bordentown Township Seniors, and the Trinity United Methodist Church of Bordentown.

Peggy was a loving and hardworking woman. She valued family above all else. Peggy married her first love, Austin Cheesman, and together the two raised their daughters Beverly and Donna. They were married for 37 years before Austin's passing. Throughout her lifetime she was an avid traveler and especially loved her annual trips to the Bahamas with her entire family.  Later in life Peggy was fortunate to find love again with her second husband, George Haas. Throughout their 19 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Florida and lived a very full life together. Peggy loved making trips to AC, and was a regular at the Elks Bingo, always hoping to hit the jackpot! She loved cheering on her grandchildren and great-children in any way she could, though she was especially interested in the sports teams they played for and loved to brag about their accomplishments. Peggy never missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies, and wanted to watch them even in her last days. She was a sassy, witty woman who provided much love and  laughter to those that knew her. She will be greatly missed as the matriarch of her family.

Predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Julia McGavin; her beloved husbands, Austin Cheesman and George H. Haas; her brother Lawrence; her great-grandchildren Connor and Liam Boyce and her favorite son in-law Thomas Wagner; she is survived by her daughters, Beverly Wagner of Westampton,NJ and Donna Bonsanto of Cape Coral, Fl. Peggy leaves behind her grandchildren who will cherish every moment they had with her: Kimberly Wagner, Kristin(Michael) Wyzykowski, Amanda(Dennis) Boyce, Alicia(Nic)Kalojiannis and Austin Bonsanto; and her great-grandchildren: Emily and Zachary Wyzykowski; Nicholas and Evan Kalojiannis; Lily, Madelyn and Aiden Boyce; and extended family.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, October 20 from 9 am to 11 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Service will begin at 11 am with interment in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township.
