Margaret Mary Eleanor Maurer, 70, of Allentown, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in County Down, Northern Ireland, she moved to the U.S. in 1958. She was a resident of West Windsor for 33 years prior moving to Allentown 7 years ago. Eleanor retired from the West Windsor School district in 1999 as a paraprofessional. She was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Allentown where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Church Prayer Shawl Group. Eleanor also served as president of the Women's Catholic Club in West Windsor.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Brannigan, Eleanor is survived by her husband of 51 years, Philip A. Maurer; her children, Susan Balderstone, and her husband Thomas, Philip T. Maurer, and his wife Barbara, Michael Maurer, and his wife Christa, Sloane Kellerman and her husband Michael; 8 grandchildren, Philip, Julia and Emily Maurer, Grace and Michael Maurer, Philip Thayer and Maggie and Susannah Balderstone; a brother, Paddy Brannigan; two sisters, Lynn Whittington and Sue McCrory as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Saturday, December 1st at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Road, Allentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm and again Friday, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown.
