Margaret E. Bishop, 97, of Browns Mills, NJ passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Born in Washington, D.C., Margaret was raised in Tuckahoe, New York, and lived in White Plains before moving to Cookstown, New Jersey, in 1943. She spent much of her life in Burlington County, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Margaret was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an excellent cook whose kitchen was often the heart of the home, bringing family and friends together around her table. In addition to raising her family, Margaret worked many jobs throughout her life, demonstrating a strong work ethic and determination that earned the respect of all who knew her. Among her places of employment was Kube-Pack and Bill and Irv’s, where she enjoyed working and the friendships she made there.
Margaret enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. She loved trips to Atlantic City, where she could often be found trying her luck on the slot machines. Her warm smile, independent spirit, and appreciation for life's everyday joys left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
One of the deepest sorrows she carried throughout her life was the loss of her beloved brother, Billy, who gave his life during the Invasion of Normandy in World War II and remains there today. His sacrifice was never forgotten and remained close to Margaret's heart.
Margaret married the classic boy next store, Steadman Bishop, and together they shared 30 years of marriage. Later in life, she found companionship, friendship, and happiness with her devoted partner, Robert "Sonny" Nutt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Pearl Costanzo; her brothers, Billy John, Benny, Artie, and Sparky Costanzo; her little sister Rosie Cannizzaro; her husband, Steadman Bishop; and then her partner, Robert "Sonny" Nutt.
Margaret's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Rosemary Bishop and Charlie Hendrickson, and Barbara and Charles Marlin, all of Browns Mills. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Sheri Menajlo and her husband, Joe, and Eddie Marlin and his wife, Stephanie; six great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Charlie, Joey, Wesley, Cody, and Dylan; and four great-great-grandchildren, Leila, Stella, Nola, and Mila. Her legacy of love, strength, hard work, and devotion will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply.
Margaret will be remembered for her resilience, her generosity, her love of family, and the countless meals, memories, and moments she shared with those she loved. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Margaret's life on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, New Jersey. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon. Burial will be private.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for all those who can not attend the services on June 30th.
