Loretta Pownall nee Cairo, 81, of Hamilton, passed away Friday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Trenton, she was a resident of the Hamilton area for many years. Mrs. Pownall retired from CoreStates National Bank in 1988 as assistant manager. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she served on its Social Ministry committee and also served as the past president of McGalliard School PTA.

Daughter of the late Salvatore and Francesca Cairo and wife of the late Robert Petry Pownall, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Richard Whitehouse and 5 siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Whitehouse of Robbinsville; her son, Robert P. Pownall, II of Hamilton; her granddaughter, Sarah E. Whitehouse of Robbinsville; her sister Ellen J. Andreas of Punta Gorda, Fl and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday January 5th at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 350 Whitehorse Ave., Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
