Lisa Michelle Balkum, 58, passed away peacefully at Ellen Sagar Nursing Center in Union, SC, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, after a lengthy battle with Leukemia.
She was born in Dover, Delaware, to Frank and Bernadette Balkum in 1958, and was raised in Jacobstown, NJ. She was a graduate of St. Anthony Church High School in Trenton, NJ and retired from the Department of Education. Lisa was an Ordained Eucharist Minister at St. Anthony's Church in Trenton for many years.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank J. Balkum and her sisters; Jeannette Balkum Reilly and Mary Roseanne Balkum. Lisa is survived by her beloved mother, Bernadette Haskins Balkum of Jacobstown, NJ. Her sisters; Teri Balkum-Tribendis and her wife Mary of Santa Rosa, CA; Lori Taplow and her husband Douglas of Tampa, FL; Susan Balkum of Union, SC; Sandra Clary and her husband Richard of Tampa, FL; and Rosemary Buchwalter and her husband Rick of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by her brothers Frank Balkum of Tampa, FL; and Bill Balkum and his wife Kim of Union, SC. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jeannette & Dana Taplow; Jessica & Matthew Balkum; Elizabeth Buchwalter; Will, Ethan & Ben Balkum.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 17th at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, 2489 Monmouth Rd. Jobstown, NJ 08041. Visiting hours will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 16th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ.
