Lionel J. Gaylard ""Larry"", 76, of Allentown, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton.  Born in Langport, Somerset, England, he moved to the US when he was 16 years old and was a longtime Allentown area resident.  Lionel retired from Carter Wallace after 46 years of service.  He was a retired member of the Hope Fire Company and an exempt member of the Fireman Relief Association and was active with the South Jersey Guppy Group and the Garden State African Violet Club.  Lionel enjoyed fishing, gardening and being with his family.

Lionel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phoebe M. Gaylard; his children, Cyndy Crotchfelt of New Egypt, Wendy Swaysland and her husband Don of Allentown and Andrew Gaylard and his wife Suzanne of Glenolden, PA; his grandchildren, Rob Crotchfelt and his wife Casey and Tim Crotchfelt as well as many extended family and close friends.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Allentown Food Pantry, C/O Allentown Presbyterian Church, PO Box 122, Allentown, NJ 08501 or to the Popcorn Park Zoo, Humane Way at Lacy Rd., PO Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731.  Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
