Linda A. Smith

Linda A. “Corky” Smith, of Columbus, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, with her daughters by her side. She was 79.

Linda was born March 30, 1947 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of the late Thomas Alfieri and Rita (Ferner) Alfieri. Linda was raised in Toledo where she attended St. Ursula Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school, before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Toledo. After relocating to Connecticut, she began her career at Rite Aid Pharmacy, moving on to Pathmark Pharmacy of Danbury where she was the managing pharmacist until 1990. She then worked at Danbury Hospital Pharmacy for the remainder of her career, continuing to care for others through her profession.

It was at UT where Linda met William L. (Bill) Smith. They were married December 28, 1971, and celebrated 54 years together.

A generous woman, an avid animal lover and expert “bargain” shopper, Linda also enjoyed watching football, ABC soap operas, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. She loved going to the movies with her friends, visits with her siblings, Broadway shows and a good tan. But above all, she cherished time spent with her family and treasured every moment with her six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Andrew Watson of Chesterfield, NJ; daughter Lindsey Sluder of Allentown, NJ; grandchildren Liam, Ty, Jillian, Ayden, Ella and Benjamin; her cat, Piper; sister Lois “Cookie” Carranza, widow of the late Joe Carranza; sister Rita “Candy” Keiser; brother Thomas (Nancy) Alfieri as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
