Lillie Johnson, 71, of Freehold, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at CentraState Hospital, Freehold. Born and raised in Birmingham, AL, she resided in New Jersey since 1954. Mrs. Johnson was a member of UAW local #595 and retired from General Motors in 1991. She also worked for many years at Cameo Cleaners in North Brunswick and most recently for Sunrise Assisted Living in Marlboro NJ. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Acts Gospel University Church of Hightstown and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Wife of the late James B. Johnson; she is survived by two sons James B. (Debbie) of Freehold NJ; Nathaniel (Vernel) of Florence NJ/Lumberton NJ and two daughters Lenore Johnson Brown (Robert) of Burlington NJ/Buffalo NY and Faye Johnson of Freehold NJ; her brother, Clifford Cook of Birmingham Ala; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout New Jersey, New York, Alabama and Florida as well as many good friends here in New Jersey.

Funeral service will be held Monday 6pm at the First Baptist Church of Hightstown, 125 S Main St Hightstown. The Apostle Captola Bowling of Acts Gospel Univeristy Church will officiate. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-6pm at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
