Leonard Panzica, 68, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Brooklyn NY, he and his wife Patricia moved to Allentown, where he loved living for the past 20 years. A graduate of New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, Lenny played football and was an All City Halfback. A US Army veteran serving in the Airborne Brigades, Lenny started his working career as a steamfitter and plumber; he later retired from New York City Transit Authority. He was a member of the Washington Lodge #21 F&AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. A well rounded artist, Lenny was a talented engineer holding an official patent for his design from the US Patent Office. He was master mechanic, master carpenter as well as an avid hunter with a deep appreciation for nature. Above all, Lenny was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Lenny is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Patricia Panzica; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Danielle and Alex Hilgetag of Medford Lakes and Andrea and Ken Lospenuso of Westampton; his two sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Panzica of Philadelphia and Leonard Jr. and Melissa Panzica of Rhode Island; his mother, Frances Panzica of Allentown, his father, Joseph Panzica of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren, Alex Daniel, Brett Leonard Hilgetag, Ariana Grace Lospenuso and Genevieve Kate Panzica and his sister, Joanne Carrado of Staten Island.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00am on Friday, October 9th at Sacred Heart Church, 206 Main St., Mt. Holly. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will take place 10:00am at Brig General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leonard's name to Mesothelioma research foundation of America.
