Obituary

Leon J. Newton, 86, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, he graduated from Hamilton High School West, class of 1956, and married Lorraine Skok in 1958. Their journey together was filled with love and adventure.  They enjoyed spending time at Long Beach Island and the memories they shared with family and friends.  They loved to travel, and Leon's favorite place was Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.  Together, they raised three children: Jeffrey, Sharyn, and Kendra.

Leon retired as a Marketing Representative from PSE&G, after 35 years of service. He had a profound love for the simple pleasures in life. He truly enjoyed reading, spending time at the beach, sharing a meal with family and friends, and watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He loved his dog Zoey, who was always by his side.  Leon always appreciated a good gin & tonic, listening to Frank Sinatra, and watching old movies. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable happiness, and he devoted his time to creating lasting memories with the family.

Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine S. Newton, his sister Virginia Horning and brother-in-law Joseph Horning, his brother William Newton Jr., and brother-in-law Robert Liberman. Leon is survived by his children, Jeffrey and Barbara Newton, Sharyn Newton and her partner Ricky Carnevale, and Kendra and John Martin; his grandchildren, Claire LeCroy and her husband Blake, Cameron Newton, Shane Martin, and Mackenzie Martin. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Liberman, sister-in-law Patricia Newton and many nieces and nephews.

Though Leon will be deeply missed, his life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the joy of living each day to the fullest.

A celebration of Leon's life will be held April 18, 2024 from 11:30am-1:30pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ.
