Lawrence W. Hamnett "Bill", 86, of Allentown, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Trenton, he has been a resident of Allentown most of his life. He retired from the US Post Office after 33 years of employment and was a former member and former President of the Hope Fire Company of Allentown. Bill was also a former coach for the Little League and the Babe Ruth League of Allentown. He and his wife Dorothy enjoyed traveling and visiting many places together through the years.
Son of the late Lawrence J. and Hilda Hamnett, he was predeceased by his son, Lawrence D. Hamnett. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy J. Hamnett; his daughter, Kathleen M. Hamnett of Allentown; his grandchildren, Lawrence Jason, Rebecca Anne and Lauren Elizabeth and great granddaughter, Jemma Rae Hamnett, all of Georgia; two brothers, James T. Hamnett of Millstone and Frederick J. and Virginia Hamnett of Talking Rock, GA; his sister, Hilda M. Bostrom of Vineland as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11am on Thursday, July 7th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill Cemetery, Cream Ridge. Friends may call Thursday morning from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lawrence W.
