A memorial service for Kenneth J. and Mildred A. Francis will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Friends may gather at 1pm with a memorial service beginning at 1:30pm.

Kenneth and Mildred were married 67 years. They resided in Hornerstown and Cream Ridge for many years before moving to Williamsburg, VA where they enjoyed their retirement.

Ken was a licensed real estate broker and appraiser trading as The Francis Agency before he joined B & R Realty. He was also a Director of the First National Bank of New Egypt from 1962 until First National merged with The Bank of Mid-Jersey, where he continued as a Director until 1997. He was involved in local politics having served as Municipal Chairman and Republican leader in Upper Freehold Township. He was a member of the Monmouth County Transportation Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Highway Committee. Ken was Vice President and General Manager of the Union Transportation Company, a family-owned company which operated a railroad in the New Egypt area from 1888 until 1976.

Mildred (Millie) served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Union Transportation Company until 1976 and then she was a Court Clerk for the Monmouth County Courts, working her way up to Head Court Clerk before her retirement in 2000.

Kenneth and Mildred were predeceased by their son, Kenneth. They are survived by their children, Tracey and Jack Byrne, John R. and Lydia Francis, and daughter-in-law Maureen Francis. They are also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
