Kenneth L. McCaffrey, 61, of Allentown, died peacefully in his sleep on October, 31, 2014 with his family by his side, after a valiant battle against prostate cancer. Born in Hicksville, Long Island, he was a longtime Crosswicks and Allentown area resident. A graduate of the College of Brockport, State University of New York; Ken later earned his Master's Degree from the College of New Jersey. He taught at the Hun School in Princeton and later Hamilton High School West for 27 years. Ken was a collegiate lacrosse player and a lifelong duffer on the golf course. He was a member of St. John's R.C. Church in Allentown, an active member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians Msgr. Crean Division 1 in Hamilton and the Hamilton Twp. HTEA.
Predeceased by his father, Lawrence C. McCaffrey, Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Jones; two children, Erin and Ryan McCaffrey; his mother, Dorothy M. McCaffrey; his siblings, Douglas McCaffrey, Karen McCaffrey-Oprea, Paul McCaffrey, Thomas McCaffrey and his wife Patricia and Ann McCaffrey-Edler and her husband Eric as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Monday, November 3rd at St. John's R. C. Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5pm and 7-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in Ken's name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401.
