IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen V.
Rubino
July 10, 1951 – November 18, 2023
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our beautiful mother, Kathleen Rubino , 72, of Fieldsboro, NJ. On Saturday November 18, 2023, she took her final breath peacefully at home.
Without question, Kathy's pride in her home town preceded her. From the Rec, to Gimbles window, she was a Philly girl to the core. Upon introduction, you would know that her childhood was spent surrounded by her life long friends, patrolling the streets of West Oak Lane garbed as Annie Oakley, and enjoying her Parents' infamous Friday night parties. Her youth was enhanced by her accomplishments. For example, she was the only roving player on the basketball team, and she introduced skateboards to the East Coast after a trip to California.
In her teenage years, she met her best friends with whom she shared numerous adventures. Their favorite haunts were Wagner's Ball Room, The Corner at Dolly's, Glenside Pool and Margate Maloney's where you could get ten beers for a dollar.
After starting her family, this city girl, moved to the luxurious vacation capital of the world, Browns Mills NJ. Growing tired of the hustle and bustle of this bursting metropolis, she decided to finally plant roots in the town of Fieldsboro, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Kathy was employed by ACME Markets as the Seafood Manager for 28 years and retired in 2016. At this point in time, she met her co-workers who became buddies, who in turn were at the center of every girlfriend night for the last 30+ years.
The twilight of her years were spent caring for her children and grandchildren who were her world. Holidays were always the biggest deal and many traditions were formed. Trying new recipes, dancing to live music, gardening, reading, traveling with her buddies and keeping up on current events were her favorites pastimes. Kathy loved the horses and you could often find her at the racetrack betting on her favorites. She loved the Kentucky Derby and Smarty Jones.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Kathy during her 72 years, among them: anything could be solved by a strongly worded letter, when life gets you down buy a hot rod, purchase a map for your bedroom so you always know your geography, when in doubt… refinance, make sure your car is disconnected before leaving the gas pump, always end the evening with a "goodnighter", and always make the bad times an adventure.
Whether you call her Kathy, Kasey, Kasey Lee, Nut, Bino, Ma or Kate, she was the same loving, genuine, funny and kind soul to all who loved her. She was everyone's Mom and was quick with a hug or great advice. Words cannot express the hole in our hearts her loss will leave forever.
She is preceded in death by her son, John Michael Carr Jr; her parents Stephen Jr. and Doris Suder; Sister Patricia Spofford (Howard); Brother Stephen Suder III (Sun-Cha), and her two favorite ex husbands Peter Rubino and John Carr.
Her memory lives on through her three children, Jennifer Procaccino (Gregory); Christy Hemmes and Joshua Carr; Grandchildren Mia and Jack Procaccino, Matthew Hemmes and Kina and Stella Carr. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
