Joseph A. Rue, age 84, of Hamilton Twp. passed away Monday at his home. Born in Trenton, he was a lifetime Hamilton Twp. resident. A WWII Navy Veteran, Mr. Rue graduated from Hamilton High School. He farmed with his father and later was employed by American Standard and for many years worked as a landscaper in the Hamilton and Allentown area. Past Master of Gothic Fraternal Lodge #270 F&AM, Past Master of Hightstown Apollo Lodge #41 F&AM, he was a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Central Jersey and a member of Crescent Temple AAONMS. Mr. Rue was a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 15th Masonic District. He played the bass fiddle for a local traveling band and loved to fish and garden.
Son of the late Augustus and Catherine Rue, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn; a daughter, Patricia and her husband James Pagano of Hamilton Square; a son, Steve Rue of Ewing Twp. and a sister, Catherine Matthews of Asbury Park.
Funeral service will be held Friday 10am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. The Rev. Merton Steelman will officiate. Interment will follow in North Crosswicks Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Thursday 7-9pm at the funeral home. Masonic Service will begin at 8pm
