Josephine Durcanin, 83, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Hamilton Continuing Care, in Hamilton Township. Born in Bordentown, she had resided in Yardville for the last 46 years. She was a graduate of Bordentown Regional High School , retired administrative assistant with the Bordentown Regional School District Transportation Department and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Yardville. Josephine was an avid New York Yankee fan and spent many Spring Trainings in Florida.

Daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel Shinn, and sister of the late Robert Shinn she is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph A. Durcanin, her children: Deborah Yahn and her husband Dennis of Yardville, Kathi Purdy and her husband Richard of Citrus Springs, FL, Joseph T. Durcanin and his wife Dawn of Buckingham, PA, and Nancy Palmieri and her husband Michael Sr. of Hamilton . Her brothers and sisters: Kenneth and Donald Shinn, Viola Gamel, Jane Brickner, Betty Carty, and Bonnie Shinn. Grandchildren: Paul Yahn and his wife Stephanie, Michael Jr. and Abbie Jo Palmieri, Richard and Jessica Purdy, Chris and Ashley Stepien, and Nicholas Stepien. Great grandchildren: Ryan Yahn, Jayden and Ava Stepien, Jackson Purdy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 am Friday, April 11 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Yardville, NJ. Interment will follow in BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Friends may call Thursday evening 5 to 8 pm and again Friday morning 10 to 11 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ.
