Joseph E. Walsh, 77, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, with his family by his side. Born and raised in Trenton, he had lived in North Hanover Township for the last 36 years. He grew up playing Trenton Little League and Trenton West End Babe Ruth baseball. He also played basketball at Trenton Central High School, becoming All City, County and State in basketball. He played forward and center for Villanova University Varsity Basketball Team from 1958 to 1962. Joseph was a 1st Lieutenant Marine Corp, and coached the Camp Lejeune Marine Corp Basketball Team in Jacksonville, NC. He retired from the State of New Jersey and enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing.


Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mary Walsh, and his three brothers Henry, Robert and Edward, Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jean Walsh, his two daughters and their spouses: Ann Marie Nutt (Brian Nutt) of Columbus, NJ and Kristine Walsh (James Rzeczkowski) of Yardville, NJ. Five grandchildren: Jessica and Courtney Nutt, Sandra, Steven and Daniel Logan, his sister: Maureen Schuster of Doylestown, PA, and sisters-in-law: Rajani Walsh of Ewing and Donna Walsh of Charlestown, RI.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, March 7 at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road, North Hanover, NJ. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Friends may call from 9 am until time of Mass at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption R.C. Church building fund, and or to Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Kearny, NJ.
