Obituary

Joseph R. Gaul, 84, of Millstone Twp., passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at his home . Born in Philadelphia, Joseph was a graduate of St. Thomas Moore High School in Philadelphia . He enlisted in the US Army and after his discharge he went on to work as real estate broker for gas companies such as BP and Exxon Mobil e. As a broker he would research best locations for gas stations.

A talented athlete and avid sports fan, Joseph played basketball at the Palestra, also known as the Cathedral of College Basketball, and played semi-professional against the Italian Olympic team. Joseph went on to coach youth sports for many years including basketball and baseball. When not coaching or playing himself, he enjoyed watching and cheering on the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers.

Joseph enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joseph also loved spending time at the shore in Sea Isle City as well as at "Bush's Golf Course and Cottages" in the Poconos.

Son of the late John and Marguerite Gaul, he was predeceased by his siblings, Jack Gaul, Frank Gaul and Margaret "Peggy" Meehan.  Joseph is survived by his children and their spouses, Michele and Michael O'Brien, Nancy and Timothy Mondon, and Joseph and Kimberly Gaul; his grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Connor, Jennifer, Christina, Erin, Bridget, Brandon, Christopher, and Nicholas; six great grandchildren, Hudson, Bryce, Brooklynn, Owen, Tanner, and Kinleigh; as well as nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Monday April 25 th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday April 26 th at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown .
