Joseph A. Durcanin III, 84, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly Township, NJ. Born and raised in Trenton, he had resided in Yardville for over 46 years. He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School, was a Veteran of the Korean War with the Marines and retired from J.E. Berkowitz as Human Resource Director. Joe was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church of Yardville and the Bordentown Post 26 American Legion, where he coached the team for many years. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and spent many spring trainings in Florida.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph II and Anna Durcanin, his sister, Joanne and his beloved wife of 62 years, Josephine Durcanin, he is survived by his children: Deborah Yahn and her husband Dennis of Yardville, Kathi Purdy and her husband Richard of Citrus Springs, FL, Joseph T. Durcanin of Colorado and Nancy Palmieri and her husband Michael of Hamilton. His grandchildren: Paul Yahn and his wife Stephanie, Michael Palmieri Jr, Abbie Jo Palmieri and Richard Purdy and his wife Jessica. His great grandchildren: Ryan Yahn and Jackson Purdy. His brothers and sisters-in-law: Kenneth and Donald Shinn, Viola Gamel, Jane Brickner, Betty Carty, Bonnie Shinn and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special buddy GiGi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 am Wednesday, November 25 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Rd, Yardville, NJ. Interment will follow in BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ, Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
