Jolan (Elek) Palmai of Allentown, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6th, 2020 at RWJ Hospital of Hamilton.
Jolan came to America at the tender young age of 17 from Eger, Hungary. She was in search of a dream, an ambitious desire to be an accomplished artist. She used her God given talents, which she honed while studying at the renowned Herend Porcelain Studio's in Budapest, Hungary, to do just that.
A lucky break landed her a meeting with the famous Mrs. Helen Boehm. Impressed with her work, Boehm brought her to Trenton, New Jersey, where she worked and studied porcelain decorating and production. Jolan later went to study under the late Master Sculptor, Laszlo Ispanky, where she elevated her skills to become an Art Director. She worked at Goebel and Cybis Studios and was pursued by Lenox in 1990 with a lucrative offer. Art and sculpting were her life and she was living her dream until she retired from Lenox in 2005 as a Senior Ceramic Technician. Some of her beautiful handwork includes: Love's Promise, The Centennial Bride, Morning Promenade and many more. Art and sculpting were her passion, but she was also a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family and she will be dearly missed.
Jolan is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Nandor Palmai Jr., her son, Nandor III, daughters Caroline (Richard) Meehan, Melinda (Tony) Addesa, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as her brother, Sandor Barzso and his family in Eger, Hungary.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jeno Elek and Ester Barzso and her loving daughter-in-law, Alice Palmai.
