Obituary

John Marcus Sherrard, 88, of Whiting, died Friday Morning, November 18, 2011 at Keswick Pines. Formally of Yardley, PA, John was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in the Allentown, NJ area on a farm in Cream Ridge.  A graduate of Allentown High School, he served in the US Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge in the 117 th Rail Splitters Division, He had a long career with New Jersey Bell and eventually retired to Whiting. John was an active member of the Allentown and Morrisville United Methodist Churches, was a Boy Scout official, a volunteer fireman with Hope Fire Company in Allentown and a Civilian Defense volunteer.  He was an avid boater and fisherman in and around Barnegat Bay and Forked River and enjoyed photography and kites.

Predeceased by his wife Grace Golden Sherrard and his son Paul Sherrard, John is survived by his wife, Theodora Adams Sherrard of Whiting; three sons, John (Cheryl) of Yardley, PA, James (Sally) of Littleton, NH and Peter (Cheryl) of Matthews, NC; two step-sons, George (Linda) Adams of Sugarland, TX and Andrew (Jennifer) Adams of Monroe, LA; six grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Nuzzolo of Collegeville, PA, Jill (Jonathan) Rea of Yardley, PA, James Sherrard of Barrington, NH, Ethan Sherrard of Williston, SC, Brennan Sherrard of Boone, NC and Beverlee Henline of Levittown, PA; six step-grandchildren, Abby Hancock of Annapolis, MD, Julie (Harrison) Hale of Columbus, OH, Eric Hancock of Matthews, NC, Philip Adams of Dallas, TX and Travis and Peter Adams of Houston, TX; three great grand-children, Jacob and Madeline Rea of Yardley, PA and Garrett Nuzzolo of Collegeville, PA.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, November 26 th at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown, NJ.  The Rev. Earl Snyder will officiate.  Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery.  Friends may call 9:30am until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
