John G. Scherholz, 88, formerly of Hightstown, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 in the Pavilions at Forrestal, Princeton. Born in West Orange, NJ; he was a graduate of West Orange High School and later graduated from Rutgers University with high honors. He was a US Army Veteran, who served in the Harbor Corps during WWII. John was a dairy farmer for many years before working as a truck driver for GLF/Agway and later, retiring from H&H gas. His delivery route covered all of central Jersey. John was very active in his community and was a former Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
Husband of the late Lydia Scherholz; he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Deborah Scherholz of East Windsor and John and Sandy Scherholz of New Egypt; four grandchildren, Glen and his wife Courtney, Dale, Megerle and Shane and three great grandchildren, Lydia, Lacey and Lilly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 6 th from 6-8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
