Obituary

John C. Russell, 71, of Hamilton, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at his home. Born in Trenton, John was a graduate of Hamilton High West and earned his associates degree from Mercer County Community College. A US Air Force Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War, he worked as a Fire Alarm and Security Technician for Simplex Time Recorder Co for 36 years and later Princeton University where he retired after 12 years of service. John was a member of Mercer Lodge No. 50 F.&A.M. and a longtime member Chambers United Methodist Church and most recently attending St. Mark United Methodist Church in Hamilton Square. He was a talented singer who sang with the Bohème Opera of New Jersey, the Central Jersey Choral Society, and the Community Christian Choir. He also did community theater at Kelsey Theatre in Hamilton.

Son of the late John M. Russell, he was predeceased by his brother, Mark Russell. John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Audrey Russell; his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Stephen Kelly of Eatontown; his son, Kevin Russell of Hamilton and was a loving Pop-Pop to his two granddaughters, Vienna and Emerson Kelly. He is also survived by his mother, Miriam C. Russell of Hamilton; his siblings, Richard and Colleen Russell of Cary, NC, Charlene and Thomas Pherson of Moseley, VA and Brian and Deborah Russell of Georgetown, DE; his aunt, Gloria Goodwin of Hamilton as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 1 st from 3 – 7 pm and again Thursday morning from 10-11am at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave, Hamilton. Funeral service will be held 11am on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave, Trenton, NJ 08690 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
