Rev. John P. McSherry, SVD, 80, of Divine Word Missionaries in Bordentown City died Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and had resided in the Divine Word Community following his retirement in 2009. Father Jack professed his religious vows in 1953 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1961. He served most of his career in the Philippines here he was a parish priest, teacher and a administrative and campus minister. In addition to degrees in philosophy and theology, he held a master's degree in both education and literature.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21 ^st from 6 to 8 P.P. at the Divine Word Community, 101 Park Street, Bordentown with a vigil service scheduled at 7:30 P.M.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, January 22 ^nd at 10:00 A.M. in the Divine Word Chapel. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bordentown. Memorial contributions may be made to Divine Word Missionaries, 101 Park Street, P.O. Box 357, Bordentown, N.J. 08505.
