John H. Imlay , 88, passed away suddenly, but peacefully at his home on Friday evening, January 22, 2021. Born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Bordentown, he was an alumnus of the Peddie School and graduate of the Bordentown Military Institute. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia. Working well into his eighties, John was a career realtor beginning with Tom Faherty in the mid-sixties before starting his own business in 1972 – Saxton, Imlay and Falconer. He subsequently went solo with Imlay Real Estate and eventually worked with The Bell Team for several years before his last outing with Coldwell Banker. To say he was an avid duck hunter would be an understatement. It was his all-consuming winter passion which he shared with his best friend, Bob Colby. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. John's summer passion was managing Major League Softball teams as well as local softball teams. A Mason, he was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge and Christ Episcopal Church of Bordentown.
John was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Harry M. Imlay and Adele Imlay (Goodwin), his brother, Dean W. Imlay, sister-in-law Adele B. Imlay (Longstreet) and stepson Raymond Giles. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Agnes M. Imlay (Patercity) of Bordentown, his sons: Dean Imlay of Bordentown, John H. Imlay, Jr. and his wife Margy of Portland, OR, stepson Roy Cook and his wife Candace of Crosswicks, his stepdaughter, Theresa Yoast and her partner Billy Yoast of Henderson, NV and seven grandchildren: Alex Imlay and wife Heather, Daniel, Ana, Gabriel, Emily Yoast and twins Hannah and Natalie Cook.
A graveside only service will be held at 11am in Christ Church Cemetery, 130 Prince St. Bordentown.
