Obituary

John Farkas, 87, lifelong resident of Jacobstown, passed away Wed. Nov 2, 2011 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ.  Born in Imlaystown June 9, 1924, he attended school at C. B. Lamb School formally Jacobstown Elem. School.  As a child, he worked on his family's farm in Ellisdale.  During WWII, he worked in the motor pool at Fort Dix.  John also transported tomatoes from local farmers to Campbell's Soup Co. in Camden.  In the early 1950's, he worked for Thermoid Rubber Co. in Trenton.  He later retired after 40 1/2 years, from Taylor Pork Roll as Chief Engineer in Trenton, June 26, 1992.  John enjoyed gardening, riding his tractor, going out to eat, watching Lawrence Welk, cooking shows & sports, tinkering with things, playing ball with his great grandson. John was a fan of Levittown America Baseball league in PA and also enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping, building bird houses, tractor pulls, & farm fairs.  Throughout his life he always remained a farmer at heart.

Son of the late John Farkas & Mary Hengli Farkas; husband to the late Mary Doris Farkas; brother to the late William, Joseph, and Stephen Farkas and Julia Anderson, he is survived by his daughter, Sue Farkas of Jacobstown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Farkas of Levittown, PA, Tommy Idell of Cream Ridge, Sherry Idell of Jacobstown and Paul Farkas of Lodi; great-grandson, Jonathan Farkas of Levittown, PA;  sister Emma and her husband Harold Niel of Trenton; sister-in-law Virginia Farkas of Bordentown; his beloved black lab of 14 years, Brooklyn as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11am on Tuesday, November 8 th at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown, NJ.  Interment will follow in Jacobstown Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8pm on Monday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted and can be sent to the funeral home.
