John R. Cannizzo

John R. Cannizzo, 84 of Cream Ridge, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton. Born in Lodi, NJ, John loved working with horses and was a Standardbred driver and horse trainer. He studied under Joe O’Brien in California and later opened his own training stables. When his day was done, John worked side by side with many equine veterinarians, assisting them wherever they needed. He also worked as a pari mutuel clerk at several local racetracks. Later in life, John enjoyed working with therapy dogs, especially his dog Sia, and showing quarter horses.

A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, he was a 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a talented musician and enjoyed playing the bass guitar.

One of four children of the late Rosario and Ann Cannizzo, John is survived by his wife, Eines Cannizzo and by his cousins and their families, Robert Nemeth, Kathy and Victor Sevcenko, Theresa and Lee Elliott, Kathy and Victor Sevcenko, Kevin Moore, and John Lengyel and his fiancée, Eileen Hutchinson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 22nd at 11am at St. John’s Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
