Obituary

John J. Beatty, Jr., 88, a lifelong resident of Bordentown, died Sunday December 28th at the Masonic Home in Burlington. Born in Trenton, he resided in Morrisville, PA before moving to Bordentown. He was a retired employee of Mercer Metro Bus Co. where he had over 36 years of service. He was a WWII Army Airforce veteran serving as a tail and turret gunner with 79 combat missions. A highly decorated airman, he received the Silver Star Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Trenton-Cyrus Lodge # 5. F.& A.M., AASR, Valley of Central Jersey and Crescent Temple Shrine where he served with the Stewards.

Husband of the late Esther Brewer Beatty, he is survived by two daughters, Jackie Beatty Snyder of Hamilton and Valerie E. Wojdat of Florida; a step-son, Lewis C. Bates of Bangor, PA; three grandchildren, Robert Snyder, Gregory Bates and Jennifer Bates; two great-grandsons, Steven and Michael Snyder and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral service will be held Wednesday from the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials to be made to the Michael Snyder Medical Fund, C/O TD Bank, Golden Crest Branch, 2283 State Highway 33, Hamilton NJ 08690 or Gift of Life Family Home, 401 N. Third St. Philadelphia, PA 19123.
