John A. Asay, 71, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Virtua West Jersey Hospital in Marlton. Born and raised in Bordentown, he was a graduate of Bordentown High Class of 1956 and resided in Bordentown until moving to Westampton 20 years ago. He worked at Lehigh Valley Dairy in Bordentown, before retiring from USX Steel after 35 years of service. John was a member of the Marine Reserves and the Kinkora Buck Club. He was an active member of the local baseball organization of Bordentown and was an avid softball player having been named All World 3rd baseman. He loved the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and raising his dogs.
Son of the late John L. Asay and brother-in-law of the late Nancy Lebak; he is survived by his mother, Beatrice Asay (nee Thorn); his wife of 50 years, Susan Asay (nee Hinkle); a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Margo Asay of Chesterfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Asay of Saylorsburg, PA and Jill and Thomas Redwood of Jacobstown; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Marion Asay of Fieldsboro; brother-in-law and best friend David Lebak of Burlington and brother-in-law, Harry and Laura Hinkle of Columbus; four grandchildren, Jillian, Ryan and Taylor Asay and Danielle Redwood as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 5 pm Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Friends may call from 3 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
