Obituary

Joan E. Hoffmann, 81, of Kendall Park passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Born and raised in Astoria, Queens, she moved to Bergen County, NJ where she met the love of her life, Jeff Hoffmann. In 1968, they moved to Kendall Park where they raised their family. Over the years, Joan worked for several banks. She later went to work in the housing office of Rutgers University, retiring after over 25 years.  A faithful catholic, she was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Augustine's of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park for over 50 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, going to Jazzercize, and arguably made the best chocolate chip cookies. "Mom" to everyone, Joan was a true saint on earth who never had a bad word to say about anybody and above all, was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.

Daughter of the late John and Marcella Student, Joan was predeceased by her husband Jeff of 54 years. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rita Farrell and her brothers-in-law, Charlie Farrell and Thomas Kraus. Joan is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Hoffmann, and his partner Stefanie Gordon, Jeffrey and Missy Hoffmann and Chris "Kurtis" and Michelle Hoffmann; her grandchildren, Kevin, Justin, and his fiancé, Claudia,Kathleen, Dean, Max, Lucas, Reagan, Sam, and Christopher Jr.; her sister, Marcy Kraus; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Chris Student; Special niece, Lauretta Farrell, as well as many other nieces , nephews, her extended family, all her "adopted" children and good friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, July 21st at Saint Augustine of Canterbury Church, 45 Henderson Rd. Kendall Park, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, Jamesburg. Friends may call on Sunday, July 20th from 4 PM to 7 PM at MJ Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Rd., Monmouth Junction.
