Jeannette Minney, 77, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at her home in Browns Mills, NJ. Born in Upper Freehold Township, Jeannette was a longtime Allentown resident, graduating from Allentown High School in 1955, before moving to Browns Mills in 1983. She was an active member of the Union AME Church in Allentown and served as president for the Christina Smith Missionary Society. She retired as a Medical Secretary from Fort Dix after 37 years of service. After retirement she went to work for Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly and Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. Jeannette loved spending time with her family, helping her community and traveling.
Daughter of the late, Theodore and Catherine Smith; she was predeceased by her longtime companion, Roger Hallett. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, E. Kevin and Lisa Minney and Michael Minney, three grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Sabrina and Enosh Minney; a great grandson, Jamir Barber; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Theodore C., Richard L., Willis F. and his wife Michelle and Chauncey Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation will be held 10am on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Union AME Church, 72 Church St, Allentown. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Interment will be in Allentown Methodist Cemetery.
