Jean B. Scattergood, 91, passed away peacefully November 23, 2015 in her home at Medford Leas in Medford Township, NJ after a year long struggle with ALS. Born in Philadelphia, PA. and prior to moving to Medford Leas, she lived for 57 years on the family farm in Bordentown Township. Jean was a graduate of West Philadelphia HS and the University of Pennsylvania. Later she earned a Master's Degree in Education from Trenton State College. After 20 years of teaching she retired from Peter Muschal Elementary School. In addition she was very involved with the family farm operation. She was a past clerk and member of Crosswicks Friends Meeting, in Crosswicks, NJ; served as Treasurer of the NJ Association of Farm Insurance; was a member of Burlington County Farm Bureau Women's Committee; and a lifetime member of NJEA, NEA, BCREA. Jean loved her family, her friends, her cat Chrissie, the shore, especially Ocean City, and playing bridge.

Predeceased by her parents, Wilford and Jean Broadbelt, her husbands, Norman Scattergood and Peter Grady, she is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth J.Scattergood and her husband Tom Kinder of Atlanta, GA, Nancy S. Donavan and her husband Peter R. of Bennington, VT, John R. Scattergood of LaGrange, GA, and Kirk D. Scattergood & his wife Donna of Sister Bay, WI; five grandchildren, Leah Barad, Andrew Kinder, Mari Holomuzki, Lindsay Scattergood-Keepper & Alison Scattergood, a great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Manner of Friends at 2 pm Sunday, December 6 at Medford Leas Retirement Community, 1 Medford Leas Way, Medford, NJ (follow signs to the Office/Community Building). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Medford Leas Reserve Fund, 1 Medford Leas Way, Medford, NJ, 08055 or the Animal Welfare Association, 509 Centennial Blvd, Voorhees, NJ 08043.
