Obituary

Jean O. Peppler, passed away Friday, June 29th at Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune. Born in Pennsylvania in December of 1922 to Earnest and Emma, Jean graduated from High School in 1940. She attended a Catholic Nursing School in Altoona, PA and graduated in 1943 as a Registered Nurse. Jean had relatives in Allentown, NJ, which is where she met her husband to be, Donald Peppler. They were married in October of 1943 and initially lived on Donald's father's farm outside of Allentown. Later, they moved to the Borough of Allentown in 1945. Jean pursued her nursing career at hospitals in Trenton and at Dr. Farmer's private hospital in Allentown. In September of 1944, a daughter, Donna Eileen, was born to Jean and Don but passed away ten days later due to birth related issues then in May of 1947 their son, Don Jr., was born. The family lived in Allentown until 1965 when they moved to Interlaken, NJ. At that time Jean continued her nursing career at Monmouth Medical Center as a private duty nurse. She maintained her nursing career for 40 years until retirement in 1983. Upon her husband's retirement also in 1983, they embarked upon a great time of retirement travel, visiting Europe, Israel, Seattle, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Florida. They soon became ""snow birds"" and for 17 years spent the winter in Stuart Florida. Jean was an active member of the Allentown Methodist Church, the First United Methodist Church of Asbury Park, and the Hope Circle, the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Neptune and was an associate member of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, Fl.

Predeceased by her parents, Jean is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Don; her son and daughter-in-law, Don Jr. and Ginny; a sister-in-law, Mary Van Hise and her two grandsons, Devin and Kirk. Jean will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, a great mom, a special Nana, a great caring nurse and special friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service celebrating Jean's life will be held 11 am on Thursday, June 4th at the Hamilton United Methodist Church, 858 Old Corlies Ave., Neptune, NJ 07753. A visitation with the family will be held from 10 am until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
