Jane D'Amore (nee Gruver) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 2, 2018. She was a wonderful woman that was deeply loved. She will be missed and will always be cherished.
Jane was born in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania where she spent her childhood. Growing up she was known as Jenny, which her husband Jim still lovingly called her later in life but she was called "Ema" by her grandson and his friends.
She enjoyed life on the family farm with her siblings, made friends and went to school. As a young woman she moved to the city of Newark, NJ where she worked many jobs. One of which was at Purolator in Rahway, NJ as a "Rosie the Riverter" where she assembled oil filters for war planes during WWII. It was in Newark that she met the love of her life at the age of 20, James V. D'Amore, just one day after he was discharged from his active duty during WWII where he served in the US Navy, Pacific Theater. They married on April 24, 1948 and celebrated 67 years of marriage in 2014, the year Jim passed away. Jim and Jane spent their early years living in Newark before Jim built their home in Edison where they raised their children and lived for 30 years. They later settled on their farm in Millstone/Upper Freehold, NJ where they later built their current home and have lived since 1985.
Jane enjoyed simple things in life. She and Jim loved being outdoors and camping and the family enjoyed many cross country trips together.
Jane was the daughter of the late Elmer Ellsworth Gruver and Alice Howe Gruver. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James V. D'Amore, Sr. and by her siblings, Margaret Warner, Lillian, Mary Louise, Elmer Jr., Norman, Donald, Lawrence and David.
Jane loved being a wife mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children and grandchildren who were her heart and joy; James V. D'Amore, Jr. and Diane and her husband, Arthur C. Wescott Sr., her grandson Arthur C. Wescott Jr. and his new bride, Nicole.
