Obituary

James Vincent Pavona, Sr., 89, husband of the late Rose Dalesandro Pavona, passed away suddenly on November 25, 2020 in the home of his son, James (Jimmie) Vincent Pavona, Jr. and his wife Denise in Holly Springs, North Carolina where Jim had been a resident for the last 19 months.

Born December 25, 1930 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jenny Pavona.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired Branch Manager for Honeywell where he worked for more than 35 years. Before joining the military, he found his one true love, Rose whom he was married to for 55 years before her passing in 2010. Jim's devotion to Rose throughout their life was only strengthened during her decline due to complications associated with Alzheimer's disease which she ultimately succumbed to. Originally from NJ, Jim loved the beach and in his younger days enjoyed spending time on the water. Jim loved 'snow-birding' in Florida and taking trips to Atlantic City. He always said, 'breakfast was the most important meal of the day' but he enjoyed them all, especially the home-cooked ones. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He was a loving father and grandfather, talented artist and craftsman. He had a calming, gentle spirit that earned him the nickname dog whisperer by his daughter Sandralee.

He is survived by his son James, Jr. and his wife Denise of North Carolina. His daughter Sandralee and her husband Tom of New Jersey. His granddaughters, Stephanie and Christine of Oregon, Jamie and Danielle of Delaware and Gracie of North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister Annalee of Highland Park, NJ.

In addition to his wife Rose, he is also predeceased by his sister Jean.

A gravesides service will be held Saturday, December 5 th at 11:30 am in Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.

Please be aware that social distancing must be observed, and face coverings must be worn at the cemetery.
